Just like ADA recommended levels of sugar for a diabetic are a JOKE and what they CALL normal can be (and is) FATAL for the patients, this book claims the same holds true for IRON. As it turns out, levels considered in the normal range carry a lot of risk across a wide range of conditions.
Everybody should get themselves tested for this BLOOD test, “Ferritin test screening.” because PD Mangan argues that high iron levels in the human body contribute to a wide range of chronic diseases, including heart disease, dementia, diabetes, and many kinds of cancer.
here are few interesting notes from the book,
Ferritin, a protein that binds iron, is the most common laboratory measure of iron status. Fertile women have average ferritin levels of around 35 ng/ml, while men in the same age range are much higher, around 150.

This may be because women lose significant amounts of iron through menstruation. It is NOT A Coincidence that women live longer than men.
• “At age 45, men have about four times the amount of iron in their bodies as women do, and they also have four times the rate of heart attacks.”
The so-called Blue Zones are places where the populations have high numbers of very old people. Scientists have studied their diets, physical activity, family and social ties, and other factors to try to understand why more people in the Blue Zones live longer. Centenarians have significantly lower iron levels than middle-aged people from the same cultures. “This can be attributed to the faster death rate of men with high iron levels and the greater survival of those men with low iron levels.”

They extensively studied people of Sardinia and concluded that the old dudes living and enjoying life way past 90 all had 01 thing in common, EXTREMELY LOW LEVELS OF IRON compared to the world average.

DONATE BLOOD. 80% of body Iron is stored in blood. When you give blood away, you give excessive iron away in the process.
the researchers found that blood donors had an 88% reduced risk of heart attack.

FASTING: Grand ma was right, Stupid science is finally catching up to what she knew ALL ALONG. What was considered as orthodox and dogma of her NOT eating anything on Tuesday and Thursday is actually a wonderful 5:2 Intermittent fasting regime now sold in US as “THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO LIVE LONG”
Those of you who listened carefully to Peter Attia Podcast I posted the other day must have heard of ANTI-Ageing drug called RAPAMYCIN.
The anti-aging drug rapamycin, which extends life in lab animals, works by deactivating mTOR. However, substances which bind and remove iron (chelators) also deactivate mTOR. The deactivation of mTOR is prevented by adding iron. Less iron = lower mTOR activation = longer life and better health.

EXERCISE. is a known way of reducing Iron in your blood.
AVOID FOOD HIGH IN IRON. Processed food in particular. Starchy food also is a rich source of IRON. Refined carbs , (NO SURPRISE) finds its mention here as well just like in Sugar. Interestingly PD Mangan says, CABOhydrares and Gluten may not be the real reason why we get fat and insulin-resistant, it may be the IRON content in it, since French and Scandinavians eat a lot of NOn-iron Flour and pastries without any diabetes.
EAT FOOD WITH IRON CHELATORS.: Food rich in Polyphenols like Green Tea, Turmeric, Onions.
Many people can easily tell you their cholesterol number, since doctors like to measure it often, and the media tells us how important it is. But almost no one knows their iron level, which in the estimation of this writer and that of many others, is far more important for health than cholesterol.
This NEEDS to change. So go ahead and get yourself checked and YES CLICK ON IMAGE BELOW and Buy the book and create a checklist of Do’s and Don’ts as I have only scratched the surface in this book review compared to what all is in it.
